President's Message

(January 2024)

I hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays and I would also like to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year. The club is off to a great start for the year 2024.

We have demonstrators lined up for January, February, and March, which will take us up to April, at which time we will have the SKEW (skill, knowledge, and educational workshop).

The demonstrator for the January meeting will be Steve Nix. He will turn a duck call and will also demonstrate the use of CA glue for a beautiful and durable finish and he will also finish a large piece using CA glue.

We announced at the December 2023 meeting that Ralph would be the demonstrator at the January meeting; due to mitigating circumstances, Ralph will demonstrate at the February meeting. Thank you Steve and Ralph for that.

Dues, in the amount of thirty dollars for the year, are due no later than Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 9:00 AM (our meeting time), and without going into details; we pay the AAW (American Association of Woodturners), for the club liability coverage for meeting, "but you must be a member in order to be covered". I'm sure you can understand the consequences.

Ralph was the winner of Johnny Picard's light house lamp and Ralph, I'm sure will have an interesting "bring-back". We need more Show and Tell pieces; so please bring whatever you have. We all learn from what others do, from the types of wood, the tools you use, the finish, etc. It's not only education but motivational as well.

Looking forward to a new year.
